so name is Mister gone I'm going to walk you through what it takes to get into AP Literature as well as some of the expectations involved in course I teach English 1011 if your language and composition for juniors as well as AP Literature and composition ironed my teaching credential and English education from Fresno State or minoring in creative writing and graduating Magna cumlaude a my 6-year mentor  and I am the department chair there's Myriad benefits in taking an AP course you'll see some listed here but be aunties There's an opportunity for college credit as well as a grade bump so in a p a b Council before point B and 8 oz of 5.8 are some of the things we like how to do an AP Literature there's a lot of different activities and ways to learn as well as ways to prove your content knowledge so we do a lot of reading in AP Literature much more so than AP language the test focus on a wide breadth of literature that you need to pull from so we'll do a response to live would do a lot of essays as well as find SS and getting basically to be able to read any sort of text from anytime. And interpret that text in a literary way the main focus of the class is which is essentially how officers make meaning and how we interpret that meaning here are some of the instructional strategies that we use in the class you can see there's a wide variety here and the reason this is so the class isn't the same thing everyday get a lot of different ways to learn so if you have a different learning style hopefully you'll be able to learn through these various strategies here it keeps its own and it keeps you on your toes the main difference here between a regular English 12 class and an AP Lit is the the workload this is going to require you to do some home reading as we have to read a lot of novels and text so you can expect an average of 3 to 6 hours of Home reading as well as any other work that you need to do to delete your assignments I wish PowerSchool to push content out to students as well as for grading and communicating AP Lit uses a standard interest rate call City of difference here as I mentioned before is the great so in a traditional class Abby would be worth 300 points in an egg would be worth for horse B is worse or and hey is worth 5 so you have a chance to get higher than a 4.0 GPA the main focus of this class is the AP exam which focuses on rhetoric and interpretation has two parts the first part is a multiple choice exam and the second part is a series of time Destiny so there's three different types of essays here and you will get to our in 15 minutes to complete them one of the essays has focused on frou-frou so he going to get a short story and be asked to interpret it about the author's rhetorical strategies so you can see here elements such as style town and selection of detail when you going to pull those things out of the article in order to interpret it the next question is Dollar Tree so we do have a poetry unit because there's a whole question of poetry and once again here rhetorical strategies will be focused on imagery selection detailed tone in order to answer questions the final essay I asked you to pull from various novels you may have read and answer a broader question and this is why we have to read a lot of AP live because we have to have a wide breadth of novels that we can pull from in anytime well read Allah from various genres throughout history just so we can be familiar with those things when we encounter we do offer a pee test prep as the high-stakes test towards the end of the year to determine whether or not you will get college credit and I'll also offer various programs and those are listed below here you do have any questions about this course here in my email and Von my chewonki. Org please feel free to email me I will be pushing out a summer assignment sound to the students this will include reading a book called How To Read Literature Like a Professor which will go over rhetorical strategies and you will be asked to read one of us on a list of novels and abused that check doing sharp with a novel Max in the same as you would do on an AP test okay is to get you prepped for the year and to let you know how rigorous the course might be and some of the things that you need and also the reading level of some of these checks which may be higher than you have previously encountered I saw I look forward to hearing from you do you have any questions please feel free to email and we will see you next year
