Principals Message

Welcome back as we prepare to begin the 2017-2018 school year, our 10th year as a high school.  First, please take note of a couple of things:  Please read and check through all of the important information that has been given to you.  Please look for updates at and also like our Facebook page for the most up-to-date news.

As we bring in the year, we are excited to continue our mission to provide a real, relevant, and innovative learning environment for our students. We are excited to announce that every single member of the Minarets staff will be back this year. Patrick Wilson will be entering his fourth year as our Director of Charter and his seventh year at Minarets. I will begin my fourth year as principal and my eighth year at Minarets.

Our teachers continue to demonstrate a love of teaching and a commitment to yearly improvement for their classes and programs. Kristi Mattes is in her 40th year of teaching this year, a major milestone in education. Many of our teachers traveled all over the state and country this summer to participate in professional development, including a team that traveled to Tennessee for the Model Schools Conference. Our staff is excited to get the year started!

At Minarets, we are committed to the continued mission of providing the highest quality of education for our students through our project based instructional model. We continue to work as a staff to improve and extend our instructional practices to provide a rigorous learning environment while also creating a learning environment that is engaging to all. We believe that by using inquiry, technology, and community connections, our students will leave our school with the tools to be successful in all of their endeavors. This year we plan to take the next step in this mission.

We are proud of the progress we are making in our programs and resources on campus. We are building an additional livestock barn at the farm as well as enhancing our schools greenhouse. These improvements will benefit our veterinary science, horticulture science, and biology classes. We are also improving and expanding our live broadcasting equipment in our media classes as we look to provide more live coverage of school events. We are currently in the middle of construction on our new athletic complex, which includes a football/soccer field as well as a new track. We have added new courses this year including journalism and film appreciation. We are also adding two more dual enrollment courses this year as part of our goal to continue to provide student opportunities to earn college credit while at Minarets. These are just a few of the major additions and exciting changes on the Minarets Campus.

We want to thank you - our great families - for all of your support and involvement.  Remember what truly makes Minarets a special and exciting place is not the technology or the program, but all the people in our school community and their many creative contributions. We believe that everything starts with relationships and when schools are surrounded with people who are passionate about learning, our students will always succeed. Go big, Go pro, Go now, and Go Mustangs!
